Sandip Ssingh on Sushant Singh Rajput's ex girlfriend Ankita Lokhande: She was always in touch with the family and they all loved her

A lot has been written and speculated about actor Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide. It was his director-friend Sandip Ssingh, who came at the forefront and took care of his final rites. In an interview with The Times of India, Sandip has spoken about his and Pavitra Rishta co-actor and friend, Mahesh Shetty's equation with Sushant. Apart from that, he also spoke about Ankita Lokhande, who was Sushant's girlfriend of six years.

Speaking about Ankita, Sandip said that despite their breakup, she always stayed in touch with Sushant's family. "Ankita had spent the maximum time with him in the last 10 years or so. According to me, apart from his family, it has hit her the most. When they were together, she took care of him like no one else ever did. The day it happened, I knew she would be deeply impacted. She was always in touch with the family and they all loved her. She is family for them, they connect with her. It was important for her to meet the family before they went back to Patna."

Sandip Ssingh also said that after hearing about his suicide, friend Mahesh Shetty picked him up from his home and reached at Sushant's Bandra residence. He also said that as friends, they should have taken more efforts to try and understand him by showing their authority on him. "When I got the news, I did not believe it. I was sitting alone and thinking if it had really happened. Mahesh Shetty (Sushant's close friend) and I spoke; he said he’s coming to pick me up. Throughout the journey from my house to Sushant’s house in Bandra, we were inundated with calls. It was not sinking in that this had happened. We were sitting in silence and in shock throughout the journey. When we reached there, we were still in shock and disbelief, but we knew a lot of formalities had to be completed and his sister Mitu was the only one from his family there.

Adding further, he told TOI, "I still remember, throughout the journey from the hospital to the crematorium, I kept wondering if it was really Sushant who I was taking with me."

Talking about Sushant Singh Rajput, he started his career from Ekta Kapoor's television show, Pavitra Rishta (2009), and made a smooth transition to films, and succeeded. The whole nation was in a state of shock when they heard that the 34-year-old died by suicide on June 14. Through the investigation, it was found that he was on anti-depressants. Ankita Lokhande visited the family before they left Mumbai to immerse the ashes in the Ganges. A prayer meet was held at his Patna house on June 23.
Ankita also went and met Sushant's father in Patna later.
